Anthem Blue Cross of CA Portfolio and Rate Update Q1 2022

Rate Update

Q1 2022 rates will increase slightly compared to Q4 2021.

  • HMO 1.5%
  • Full PPO & PPO HSA 0.9%
  • Limited PPO 1.0%
  • EPO 0.7%

New Vivity HMO Network

Anthem is excited to announce that the Vivity Network is now expanded to Small Group with 12 new plan designs! Available in parts of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura counties. This performance network will give access to top providers such as Cedars-Sinai, Huntington Hospital, Providence, Memorial, PI H Health, Torrance Memorial, UCLA Health.

Vivity network options show up to a 22% discount from full network HMO plans (varies by region).

Anniversary Changes

With the release of Vivity, Anthem is making it easy for groups to take advantage of the new network an cost savings. Groups will be allowed to request a renewal date change to January 1, 2022 so members can enroll in Vivity. To change anniversary dates a group must:

  • be current in paid premiums.
  • accept a new renewal date of January 1, 2022.
  • accept January 2022 rates and plan designs.

A required form will be coming from Anthem to help members request this change.

Portfolio Updates

Existing plans experience minor benefit changes. You can view the changes in Anthem’s 2021-2022 Benefit to Benefit Guide (coming soon). Other updates include:

  • Whole Health is expanding and will now include narrow network plan options.
  • Chronic conditions expanded coverage, added to all small group plans, provides first dollar care for chronic conditions. Benefits will be covered as preventive with a $0 copay and deductible waived.
  • New Value Add launching January 1: Emotional Well-Being Resources. This program replaces Your Time Matters and offers mental health resources to treat emotional, psychological, and social well-being.

Underwriting Promotions

The current promotions are extended through March 2022, this includes:

  • 2 PPO/1HMO or 2 HMO/1PPO networks
  • DE-9C not required with 3+ enrolling with prior coverage.
  • Relaxed participation at 25% for 5+ and 65% for 4 or less enrolling.
  • IFP is a valid waiver.

Important Dates:

  • Rates will post to the Producer Toolbox on October 1 (possibly delayed, pending regulatory approval)
  • Renewals will be released on Producer Toolbox on October 21
  • Renewals will be mailed to employers on October 27
  • Renewals will be released on Employer Access on October 29
