Cigna Request Information For Client Reporting

In compliance with the Consolidated Appropriations Act, Title II, Section 204, Cigna will produce medical and/or pharmacy spending reports annually for both fully insured and self-funded (ASO) clients, and submit to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Labor, the Department of the Treasury (Tri-Agencies) and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).

For the June 1, 2023 submission, which will represent reporting year 2022, Cigna’s standard approach is to submit on their clients’ behalf.

To ensure that all clients have the opportunity to submit their premium split information (employer versus employee), Cigna communicated with to clients who did not receive the initial request sent on February 9. They outlined the information required for Cigna’s submission and provides an email address specifically established for collection of this required information.

 

What Clients Need to Do
For the June 1, 2023 report submission:

  • Send an email to the address included in the communication sent from Cigna with their client name, account number and average employee versus employer percent of premium across the client’s medical, pharmacy, behavioral coverage (including Cigna and non-Cigna coverage) corresponding to their population with Cigna coverage by February 24, 2023.

Please note that for the June 1, 2024 (and future) submissions, Cigna intends to collect any required information through existing processes, such as case set-up and renewal.
