Plan members will receive a new health plan ID card with the Oxford PLN designation, to be mailed prior to the renewal date. In addition, members who use a non-Oxford PLN provider will receive an email or a letter. Oxford has provided an employee-facing sample email and flyer that employers can use to alert their employees.
Certificates of Coverage and Summaries of Benefits will also be updated. In addition, Oxford is communicating with providers about the new Oxford PLN, including a recommendation to refer Oxford plan members to Oxford PLN laboratories.
About the Oxford Preferred Laboratory Network (Oxford PLN)
The Oxford PLN consists of contracted independent, free-standing laboratory care providers that have met higher standards for access, cost, quality, and service. Oxford PLN is already available to members on small group non-HSA Oxford policies in New Jersey (as of January 1, 2023), as well as Oxford members on non-HSA policies in New York (as of January 1, 2023, for small group policies and July 1, 2023, for large group policies).
Members on Oxford fully insured plans in New Jersey and New York may still use any participating network laboratory for services. Choosing a lab in the Oxford PLN, however, may result in higher-quality care and lower out-of-pocket cost to the member.
To locate an Oxford PLN lab, members should go to MyUHC > Find Care & Costs and then look for the blue icon next to the lab name. They may also find an Oxford PLN lab using the UnitedHealthcare app, by calling the toll-free number on their health plan ID card, or by calling 800-444-6222.
