With these 10 tips you can drastically improve your online meetings:
- Always be visible (on camera) if others in the meeting are visible
- If you are not a speaker, focus on being a good listener
- Avoid multitasking during the meeting
- Keep your camera at eye level. If it’s at the bottom of your screen, use an external camera or set your laptop on a stack of books
- Use lights to improve your online presence. Ring lights are popular and affordable. Keep lights in front of you at a slight elevation
- Ask permission before taking screenshots and posting them on Social platforms
- You may be very comfortable at home but always dress professionally in front of the camera.
- Check your internet speed at the link here and make sure you’re running the right amount of power.
- Your background should be simple, tasteful, and boring. Keep doors, windows, mirrors, and eclectic décor out of your shot.
- Avoid touching your face or nails, scratching, or fidgeting.
