Beginning on January 1, 2024, posterior composites (white fillings on back teeth) will be included as a benefit on all standard fully insured small group 2-99 dental plans available through UnitedHealthcare. This benefit enhancement applies to both new and existing groups, and will reduce out-of-pocket expenses for members while simplifying expectations for providers.
Custom plans, experience-rated plans and ASO groups will not automatically change. In addition, key and national account groups that have declined coverage on posterior composites for price reasons, will not change and will continue to have the option to decline the coverage at renewal.
No action is needed for in-force members; the benefit will go live on January 1.
