Smile Direct Club, one of our national providers in our Ortho@Home program, closed its business and shut down global operations on December 8, 2023 — a few months after the teeth-straightening company filed for bankruptcy protection.
The average treatment time for Ortho@Home is three to six months. Some members may have remaining work in progress depending on the length of their treatment plan. We are sending letters to members who were receiving Smile Direct Club services.
Members with work in progress should monitor the Smile Direct Club website for updates and new information as it becomes available. Orders that were not delivered before operations ceased are canceled.
Ortho@Home is still available through Byte®, a dental network provider. Members who have not yet begun treatment with Smile Direct Club or had orders canceled should contact Byte for future Ortho@Home treatment. Byte is a financially stable business owned by Dentsply Sirona, a multi-billion-dollar dental products and services company.
