Change Healthcare (CHC) is a health care systems vendor that helps manage data transactions like member eligibility and benefit checks. On February 22, Florida Blue learned that CHC had experienced a cybersecurity incident. In response, CHC disconnected its systems from outside connections in order to prevent further impact to its business partners.
Florida Blue has also temporarily suspended electronic transfers of data with CHC in order to protect its systems from any potential threat.
The incident has impacted Florida Blue's network providers who use CHC systems to transmit claims and eligibility inquiries to Florida Blue. These providers are not currently able to access the latest member information through the normal channels. To ensure continuity of business and to help facilitate care for Florida Blue members, providers are manually checking eligibility and benefits through Availity.
If a member has a question regarding their benefits or getting care from a provider, the member can call the number located on the back of their ID card and Florida Blue can help.
