UnitedHealthcare is reminding brokers that the ACA requires carriers to offer a one month special open enrollment period (SEP) from November 15 to December 15. The SEP is for groups that don’t have to meet contribution or participation requirements as long as they meet all other standard rules in order to be accepted; this is part of the ACA requirement.
Here are the guidelines for the SEP groups:
- Submission dates November 15, 2019 to December 15, 2019
- Effective date January 1, 2020
- You can write alongside another carrier, but UHC still requires the five CA minimum enrollments
- The clean case must be received by December 15 at 11:59PM (PST) to receive approval
- Standard paperwork is required to substantiate business entity and payroll documentation at the time of submission
